Everyday Spanish for Teachers -March 13^th, 2010 – Preschool Teachers and Daycare Providers

This workshop has been designed for teachers who have little or no experience with the Spanish language. During the workshop, teachers will play, sing, dance and enjoy puppet shows together! At the end of the session, you will have a set of ideas and ready-to- use simple activities to share with your students. All participants will receive a CD with songs and games to play in class and a CD with sentences that can be used in your daily classroom routine. This is a very interactive learning session!

Activities:
• Have the children move around the room while saying marcha (march)¬ and have them stop by saying para (stop). Do the same with the other actions: salta (jump), arriba (put hands up), abajo (put hands down), adentro (go inside the circle), afuera (go outside the circle).
• Use a parachute for active play or a sheet, and have the children do the previous actions. Place an object in the middle of the parachute/fabric, preferable an object related to the themes explore before (numbers, colors, animals, etc) to link the lessons.

Bringing Another Language into your Child’s Life

Saturday September 19, 2009

During this free workshop, parents will learn more about the benifits of introducing young minds to a new language. We will explore a number of tips about how to expose children to a new language when only one is spoken at home.
Little ones are also invited as we will have some time to play in Spanish.
Carolina Gomez-Kramer is a native of Columbia who has taught languages to children for over ten years.
Her presentation is brought to you with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

This program is free and open to everyone.
