Carolina Gómez, Director & Lead Teacher

Carolina grew up in Colombia, South America. She holdsa Bachelors degree in Modern Languages from La Universidad del Valle in Colombia and a Masters in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University in Boston. Carolina enjoys teaching children her language and exploring the vibrant cultures of Latin America in a fun way and has been teaching languages to children for over 12 years in Colombia, Guatemala, and the United States – in private schools, public schools, and out-of-school settings. She is now a classroom K-3 Spanish teacher in Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols (BB&N) in Cambridge, MA. She is a member of MaFLA (Massachusetts Foreign Language Association), ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) and NNELL (National Network for Early Language Learning). In 2005, Carolina founded 1-2-3 Spanish Together, an early language music and curriculum designed to teach Spanish to children and their families and help other teachers learn the trade. William Yepes, Consultant for Teacher Training and Workshop Facilitator

William Yepes Amaya, an early childhood education specialist, with 20 years of teaching experience. William earned his BA in Early Childhood Education at CENDA, University in Colombia, a certificate in Social Studies from La Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, and In 2005 he participated in The Project Zero at Harvard University where he trained and successfully completed a certificate program on how to integrate the multiple intelligences approach to the learning process in the classroom. William addresses the learner from an organic approach in which he values the curiosity of each child and inspires them to search for ways to question their surroundings and observe their environment. He is highly accessible to young people due to the respect he shows them as individuals and learners. Through out his experience in Colombia and the last 8 years in the United States he has been able to understand the many different ways in which children learn and is a highly respected teacher among the communities.

Dave Kramer, Operations Assistant

Dave Kramer helps keep 1-2-3 Spanish Together’s files and finances in order, serves as a sounding board for Carolina’s ideas, and edits program materials. He met Carolina while teaching in Colombia. Like Carolina, he is determined to ensure that their daughter grows up bilingual and proud of her bicultural heritage, and he is happy to help others raise their children with foreign language exposure. His day job is with the non-profit EcoLogic Development Fund, where he uses Spanish on a daily basis to communicate with Latin American staff and partners.
